Have you ever found yourself lostโliterally or figuratively? Maybe youโve been on a road trip where GPS failed you, or perhaps youโve sought advice from someone only to realize later they had no clue what they were talking about. Itโs frustrating, right? But more than that, itโs a reminder of how important it is to choose the right guides in life.
In Luke 6:39โ40, Jesus tells His disciples, โCan a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher.โ This passage holds a powerful lesson for all of us, regardless of where we are in life.

Seeking the Right Teachers
Think about the people you turn to for advice. Are they leading you closer to truth, wisdom, and goodness? Or are they just as lost as you are? In todayโs world, where social media influencers, celebrities, and even friends constantly share opinions, itโs easy to mistake popularity for wisdom. But Jesus reminds us that we need to be careful about who we follow. Just because someone has a loud voice doesnโt mean they have the right direction.
Instead, we are called to seek out mentors and leaders who are grounded in faith, experience, and truth. Whether itโs a wise friend, a faith leader, or even the teachings of Christ Himself, true guidance helps us grow and avoid pitfalls.
Becoming a Guide for Others
Jesus also tells us that as we grow and learn, we will become like our teachers. Thatโs an exciting and sobering thought. It means that one day, we will be the ones leading othersโour siblings, our friends, maybe even our future children or communities. What kind of teacher do you want to become? If we seek wisdom, practice patience, and live with integrity, we can become trustworthy guides for those who look up to us.

A Daily Challenge: Growing in Wisdom
If we want to become good leaders, we must first be good learners. Hereโs a small challenge for you today: Choose one area of your life where you need better guidance. It could be your faith, relationships, career, or personal growth. Then, ask yourself:
- Who are the people influencing me in this area? Are they truly wise?
- Am I open to learning, or do I assume I already know everything?
- How can I actively seek truth, whether through scripture, prayer, or seeking advice from those with experience?
A Hopeful Reminder
The good news is that we donโt have to figure everything out alone. God is always ready to guide us. When we trust in Him, seek wisdom with humility, and follow the right teachers, we can walk a path of growth, faith, and purpose. And one day, weโll be able to lead others with the same love and truth that was poured into us.

So today, letโs take a step toward wisdom. Letโs seek truth, grow in faith, and trust that God is leading us in the right direction. Because when we do, we wonโt just avoid the pitfallsโweโll help others find their way, too.
